We subscribe to the system of doctrine summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. As a short synopsis we are Evangelical in that we believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant, infallible and only rule by which any person can discover the truth about salvation as it is offered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe in the One God, Triune in Person, consisting in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost as He is revealed in Scripture. God, The Father, who is pre-eminent in Creation covenanted with His Only Begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, who is pre-eminent in Salvation, that the redemption of sinful men would be accomplished through the Son's perfect obedience in life, submission in death and resurrection to glory. This was accomplished in Jesus' birth through a virgin, Mary, His life as a man like other men except for sin, and his death on a cross. The redemption thus purchased by Jesus is only extended to individuals through faith.
This faith is a gift of God worked in a "born-again" or regenerated heart through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, who is pre-eminent in sanctification. Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, has ascended to heaven where He has been given all authority in heaven and earth. He is therefore worthy of and commands the obedience of all men. As Christians we strive to follow Him through committed lives, seeking to demonstrate the love that He first extended to us. Though imperfect in this life, our works in this life are important to His Kingdom and are the means by which He makes known His continued Presence in the world. We are committed to discovering His Peace and extending that Peace to others through whatever means He makes available to us. |
